Using a human rights-based approach, the aim of their work is to provide care and to ensure that disabled persons regain their independence and their place in a community. Handicap International’s work focuses mainly around the following areas: emergencies; rehabilitation; anti-mines action; physical and mental health; inclusion and disability rights and policies. The site has extensive documentation (some only available in French) not only on the organization’s work and programmes but also on the conditions of handicapped persons in various countries and the results and challenges of the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Source: http://www.survivorcorps.org/Survivor Corps is an international organization that works to provide assistance to survivors of conflict in their quest to rebuild their homes, their communities and their lives, by breaking the cycle of victimization and violence. Through various campaigns and advocacy programmes, the organization provides information on their work towards banning landmines, promoting the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, providing leadership programmes in post-conflict situations, and providing assistance to survivors to prevent further victimization. The website also contains information and updates on international action in landmine sectors and reviews and guidelines for work done with survivors.

Their mandate include working towards implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities adopted in 2006, the Standard Rules on Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities adopted in 1994, and the World Programme of Action Concerning Disabled Persons adopted in 1982. In addition, the secretariat has an educational role, producing publications and disseminating information on disability issues. It promotes national, regional and international programs and activities; provides support to governments and civil society; and gives substantial support to technical co-operation projects and activities. The website contains information and documents on: relevant UN Conventions; news and updates on the work of the Secretariat; factsheets on disability; and links to a variety of documents on disability published by outside INGOs.
